I had been thinking of how great it would be to see you at the next Water Board picnic, and to share stories of where life had taken us since we both left the Water Board. I was hoping of hearing about your grand traveling adventures with your family and perhaps an orienteering convention. I was looking forward to telling you about my life now that I am balancing environmental consulting and my “heart business”. When I heard the news of your passing, I kept thinking that maybe you just stepped out for a moment, that you would be back, that you hadn’t really exited. I miss you. And yet, my heart is full with appreciation for all that you gave to me and so very many others: those of us who worked for you and with you, those who sat on the Board that you so diligently served, the members of the environmental community (whatever side of the “fence”, or perhaps, the Bay, we may have found ourselves on), we were all blessed with your remarkable kindness, patience, and generous heart.
There is so much I want to thank you for, so much I want to say, and I am sure that I will jump back into the comment thread. For now, I wish to welcome all those who are looking for a landing spot in which they can pour out their hearts and share their memories of you. We love you, Bruce. We miss you, Bruce. We carry you in our hearts and memories.
